Anthony "Amp" M. Johnson, 43, of Peoria, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2010, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Anthony was born in Chicago on August 20, 1966, a son of Hilery and Geneva (Freeman) Johnson. He married Kari McCurdy on November 1, 1989 in Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Ira Jones; sister, Diane Ellis; and brother, Joe Willie Freeman.
He is survived by his daughter, Karissa Johnson of Washington; son, Bryson Roberts of Peoria; step-sons, Jason and Justin Stanley of Peoria; brother, Ondrea (Angela) Johnson of Peoria; sisters, Joann (Willie) Danile, Imojean Johnson, Rita (Duane) Smith, Glenda (John) Akins, Josephine Jones, Tiffany Adoth and Lula Bell Johnson, all of Chicago and Carolyn (Rick Russell) Johnson of Peoria; special friend, Lisa Dworsack of Peoria; and several nieces and nephews.
Anthony was a cook at the Hotel Peré Marquette and was formerly employed at Kelleher's Irish Pub, both in Peoria.
He enjoyed being with his friends and family; listening to Rhythm & Blues music, especially R. Kelly; watching Chicago Bears football; and making everyone laugh and be happy. He was a great father, brother and friend and was a loving, caring person. He would do anything for anyone.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2010, at Clary Funeral Home, 428 W. McClure Ave., in Peoria. Additional visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Performing Christ Ministries, 5209 W. Lake in Chicago, with services at 11 a.m., with Dr. Timothy A. Treadwell officiating. Interment will be in Restvale Cemetery in Alsip.
